My preference would be cash but my wife wants the Discover points. Guess which I use.

I pay with 5% cashback bonus credit card. I resent the stations that are charging extra for using a credit card. Just drive on and don't participate in their game. They will get the message if enough people do this.

I use my credit card. More convenient to:
- pay at the pump,(don't have to wait in line at the cash register)
- get 24 hour fuel at some stations that close at night,
- let the bank pay for it for up to 30 days,
- I get a receipt,
- don't have to leave my truck unattended,
- much easier when I have small children that I can't leave in the vehicle,
- don't have to worry about the wife driving away without me.

Here in the Detroit area, they charge more for credit cards. Some places charge as much as .10/gal more to use a credit card.

Because we are in a credit card world, it is easier to pay with a credit card at the pump! I pay for my gas purchase which is on my credit card within 2 week. If there was a way to pay cash at the pump, I would pay cash.

Always use my debit or credit. Pay at the pump; don't even go inside anymore. :)

the good thing about paying with credit is you have a digital record of the transaction, especially if you have a dispute about the pump's accuracy [seems to be alot of that going around now}

Whatever is cheapest. If I'm caught short on the road I will buy $5 diesel which gets me 30 to 50 miles. I use gasbuddy If I expect to need Cash for fuel that is cheaper than near home, I'm ready. I used to buy motor oil for diesel trucks in a gallon can with a long accordion neck. The make great 1 gallon diesel reserve for My VW TDi

Cash is always best,besides too many people are rigging the scanners to steal your credit card number.

My credit card pays 5% back on gas. This makes using credit 18 to 20 cents per gallon cheaper. Have not seen any stations offer this kind of discount for using cash. Also prefer to pay at the pump. Only knew of one station that took cash at the pump, and they discontinued it.
