It really isn't necessary to change the value to 10,000 or 100,000, since it clearly says 1000 (twice). It's asking how many vehicles the respondent has "really" driven, lifetime. The kilometric equivalent is irrelevant; 1000 was just a random figure to keep out that friend's car you borrowed once, the test drive you didn't buy, etc. Something you drove long enough to feel.
I did think the ranges should have been wider, since it's a lifetime total question. I suggested that but it didn't carry.
As always, anyone who wants input on the upcoming polls need only visit the forum. This wasn't one of the clearer proposals but more heads available to scan them over is always a help.

If the question is taken as written, without trying to read something into it, the answer isn't difficult. Since I have owned 55 vehicles of various makes, models and years, domestic and import and have driven most of them over 1000 miles I would be in the 21 or more group without including company cars, rentals etcetera. I think it would be interesting to know how many miles a vehicle has on it when they say they drove it into the ground, it died or was "all used up".

I think the question is obvious. Personally, I drove a 1969 Pontiac 129,000 miles...and in later years, I owned a 1983 Chev Silverado pickup truck for close to 300,000 miles...and it still drove very nicely, but the body panels were falling off from Rot!!! I sold it for $600.00 in 2005 Therefore I have driven at least 2 vehilces well over 100,000 miles

JT : why don't we re-post the question as "How many different vehicles have you driven to over 100,000+ miles?"

I thought it said 10,000. 1000 is a different story. Four motorcycles. Eight cars. Five bicycles.

"How many different vehicles have you driven more than 1000 miles or km?"
How simple can it be?

Was this was some kind of reading comprehension test disguised as a question to see what responses you get with a vague premise?

Thank GOD there's a new poll tomorrow. I got 100 points from this one. That's all I care about. I picked the correct answer, got my 100 points, then laughed at the responses.
"How many different vehicles have you driven more than 1000 miles or km?"
Doesn't say in one day. Doesn't say on one trip. Doesn't say what type of vehicle nor did it ask who owned it. It says "How many different vehicles have you driven more than 1000 miles or km?"
I didn't find the question difficult nor confusing.

I had one car that I drove only 7 months before some clown came plowing through a red light with all 4 tires locked up and totalled both of us. It had 167,something on the speedo before this happened; obviously I just put a few thousand miles on it. He paid tho..............

I felt the question was not specific enough. Did not know if the number of miles was a typing error and was suppose to mean 100,000 miles instead. If 10,000 miles is the average number of miles driven each year, then it made more sense. So I answered the question based on 100,000 miles.

I agree with several others, your question is too vague. 1000 miles in a week, month, more? 100,000 makes more sense, but it would still need to say something to the effect, "How many vehicles do you CURRENTLY drive that have 100,000 MI or KM, or greater". Today that would be 1 in my life, that would be all of them (7) except my new HHR.

I usually get a car and run it into the ground, so the same number of vehicles I have driven 1000 is the same as 100,000 miles

When I first answered this question I was probably asleep. As the week wore on, I realized that 6 or 7 would have been a more accurate answer than 1 or 2. I guess I was thinking "in a single trip." I am in the "used car" segment of society and as long as my car is affordably serviceable, I drive it until it reaches its demise. May it rest in pieces.

I question the threshold of 1,000 miles. Why so low. I have used company cars and rentals this LOW amount.

Thank You Leehouse for your comments, but if you will review the majority of the past several hundred comments on this topic, it appears that there WAS some debate as to the understanding of the question. Based on No reply by you must I assume you still didn't understand the question or is your function to not participate, but critique everyone else? Leehouse, Rookie Author from Jacksonville wrote: Thank you, Mr. Brighter than the rest of us in Georgia. I didn't realize that you were the origin of this week's poll question.
