Today 72%. This is a consistent trend towards 100% dependance on foreign oil. Perhaps a more appropriate question is: Can the USA prevent reliance on foreign oil from reaching 95% in 20 years? My answer is the same . . . Cannot. And that will be assured because they will not try.

Over the next twenty years - If industry and government are very smart and very creative and the public willing to make some life style changes (little signs so far but not impossible), we might get to the point that the only crude imports we need are our imports from Mexico and Canada.

The government would need to do a lot more than it is doing now. And private industry will have to dig deeper in its pockets for R & D and investment.
