Yeah, to the AGW panic crowd, fanaticism is a requirement. Clearly, fanaticism is the goal, and AGW is merely the justification.
Did you see this news item? It's a good one.

Figures.
The irony is that he accepts the AGW theory without criticism and the AGW community is intolerant of his rational application of the theory. The video in my link below is a bit long but in it he covers his position in fair detail. The nature of his opponents' thinking is clear in the question and answer session at the end.
This just goes to show that the AGW crowd is ideological and political to the core, and has no room for either open debate or rational thought.
In other words, they are liberals.
Ideology and fanaticism trump truth with that crowd.

Panama19, I haven't read Lomborg's book, but I saw a TV show on him, and my understanding is that he feels that AGW is real, but only a minor nuisance, and this infuriated many in the AGW camp to the point that his career was destroyed over political correctness. Income from his writing is a compensation, but he's an academic and wants that life, which is denied him because his views don't match the AGW panic mongers.

ldheinz, I believe that Lomborg does not dispute the AGW argument, but instead compares the consequences of climate warming with the costs of the AGW crowd recommendations to fight it. See Cool it.
His point seems to be that the money would be more effectively spent directly on the problems introduced by climate warming rather than on the futile efforts to moderate the warming itself.
I believe that he is right with respect to costs, but wrong to accept the AGW theory at face value. This is to be expected however, as Lomborg is an economist skilled in game theory rather than a climate scientist informed on the underlying science of climate change.
I haven't yet read this book, but I intend to read it shortly.

If anyone is interested in a comprehensive treatment of the science and the theory of climate change driven by cosmic rays, see The Chilling Stars: A Cosmic View of Climate Change by Henrik Svensmark and Nigel Calder.
This is the best presentation of the subject that I have ever seen.

Yup, this will not get much press outside Drudge, and maybe Fox News. However, the fact that it saw the light of day at all is a sign that the warmers' strangle hold on the publication of results which don't agree with their agenda is slipping. I don't know for sure if this theory is correct, but the one thing I am certain of is that the proponents of AGW have no interest at all in science or saving the planet, but have every interest in money and political power. mudtoe

The AGW house of cards is actively falling right now.
The only true believer left have taken refuge at dailykos and mediamatters.
