We all need to east a good breakfast it does not matter if we are an athlete or not. You need to start your day off right and it is important to eat a healthy breakfast. If you are going to do a morning work out you need to eat to help shift body from a catabolic state to an anabolic one. You need to fuel early to maximum your work out. It is not wise to skip an early morning meal before heading out to work or a exercise routine. You need a balance diet in the morning which includes carbohydrates and twenty to thirty grams of protein which will give you more energy. By eating healthy foods it has proven to lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure.[L=http://sportstraininghelp.com][/L]

Check into programs out there. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc. Then keep a journal of the food you eat. See when you eat.

I eat out a lot. I enjoy a good buffet. They usually have desserts, and I don't get dessert at home very often. ****

There is so much information on the internet for this. What worked for me is "The Diet Solution" plan while keeping an online food journal and exercise.

That's something I should, but I don't. I try sometimes, but then I find myself eating up everything that looks good to me. I don't get what you call fat, but I have a lot of trouble keeping the fat from the belly area. That's the hardest area to remove extra fat from, so my work is cut out for me I guess.

There are so many simple thing you can do to 'watch what you eat'. Don't diet, diets are temporary. Teach yourself to 'watch what you eat' and commit to making it a lifestyle change. potatos, for example, slowly set yourself a time period of 3 months (the time it takes to successfully break a bad habit), and slowly pick one potato item out of your diet and refrain from eating it. potato chips, fries, etc. Keep one or two things in your diet though, liked baked or mashed potatos (a more healthy prepared potato) so you don't feel your cheating yourself. Go 3 months and if you can make it that long, you can kick it from your diet completely. Do this one at a time with foods and drinks. I suggest kicking soda and juice drinks first. People underestimate the power of water. Then move to fries, potato chips, etc. One step at a time and before you know it, you won't be 'watching what you eat', because it will just be your 'normal' lifestyle to eat healthier.

I would say to eat what you want but portion it properly. I know that is one of my biggest issues is portion sizes. Even when you think you are eating healthy if your portions are way out of line then all the exercise in the world could not make you lose weight.

Join spark. You really start to notice what your intake is and how it affects you when you see it. Or you can write it down. I am not online all the time so it is really hard for me just to enter my meals down online. I use the old school method by writing it down.

Yes, eating healthier does make a difference in exercise. You'll find that eating more fruits and vegetables yields more energy than burgers and fries. People also neglect the importance of carbohydrates. If you're a pro athlete, eating junk food gets you nowhere.
Potatoes (chips and fries don't count) in moderation is good for your health. Don't give up your mashed potatoes, potato salad, or baked potatoes!

Americans today eat way too much and their stomachs have grown accustomed to large amounts. Reataurants serve very large portions and people eat it because they paid for it.A portion is 1/2 cup. After eating this way for years I get full on very small amounts of food.It is very hard to see people eat large plates of food and not think anything about it. Too bad.

I have been using a website that is free and it has been tracking what I'm eating with the calories intake. It's spark nutrition. You can google it. It sure has opened my eyes to how and what I've been eating....Wow.

I love potatoes as well! This si what I do to make them the healthier way... Try making baked potatoes with low fat sour cream & chives (no butter, no cheese) You can make Twice Baked Potatoes with low fat sour cream, turkey bacon & low fat cheese. Mashed potatoes with garlic & skim milk will give you the flavor you want & the comfort food feel, without over doing it. Slice your potatoes into long thin wedges & put them in the oven with a sprinkle of garlic salt, let them bake on a cookie sheet for about 25 minutes at 350*. There are youre yummy homemade french fries! And when eatting your potatoes, match them with a green vegetable such as asparagus, broccoli, etc

Yes, watching what you eat definitely effects your weight loss/ gain. Try cutting back on what you eat now, don't change it yet, just cut back on portion size. Continue working out at your regular pace & after you start seeing results, start cutting out those bad foods. I don't believe in never allowing yourself to eat what you want, that's ridiculous!
