Have you ever used a YouTube video to teach you how to do maintenance or preform a repair? I've used it for several light bulb changes and filter replacements. Great resource.

GBHUGVA said, "Some are helpful." He is right. I have just purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic and repair manuals (other than Helm's) and disks are not yet available, neither are oil filters or some other parts since it is a brand new model, built from the ground up. I had an issue with changing oil and someone on You Tube did an outstanding job of documenting and taking finely detailed pictures with areas of interest circled. It was the best auto video I've seen. It also was helpful because GM changed a plate under the engine in January for this vehicle due to problems it caused. I agree with you diegotoad, that it is a "great resource" :-) .

Love the drag races on YouTube; the REAl ones, not two jokers going side-by-side down the highway.

Good to know. My truck had an amber marker light go out, and if I had of broken the frame, there is no telling what it would have cost me. I let the dealer replace the bulb for about $29.00. They make these things so hard for the average person to change, you almost have to take them to the dealer for service.

No, I have the owner's manual and repair manuals for that. I prefer the books.

I'm sure it can be used for that purpose, but, no, I've never done it.

some of those how-to's are spot-on... just read the comments to verify

others are just plain stupid... reading the comments to filter them out is helpful

I have, but I tend to watch "how to" videos on YouTube through something of a skeptical filter.

Have never thought about looking on YouTube for information like that. I'll have to check it out the next time I need assistance ...

That is good, but on some of those videos I wouldn't put much faith in at all.
