For a long time, it was usually around 4 to 6 cents more per gallon. Now at a few stations it is up 14 to 16 cents per gallon. Are the credit card companies squeezing the gas stations and/or the gas stations just charging to get more money from the public.

Are the credit card companies squeezing the gas stations and/or the gas stations just charging to get more money from the public.

I haven't looked lately though.

Ultimately, the consumer pays for the increased fees. That's why it's better to pay cash for gasoline if it's offerred at a cheaper price at gas stations. If you pay by credit, then pay off the balance every month to avoid the fees and interest. You'll learn to feel good every month knowing that you've "Stuck It To Man!!!" Granted, it would be nice if they had to post both prices, but if they feel their business model works best to pass the swipe fee along, I see no reason that should be restricted. Each business must determine which model works best. Some may find the price differential they charge may not be worth it as it may drive too much of the CC business away. It is there call, and each customer must determine the best value for them when choosing where they do business.
